Aboriginal Language

Aboriginal Language, Kriol & Aboriginal-English training.

Djoona is pleased to offer traditional Aboriginal language training from the Perth metropolitan region: an introduction to Aboriginal words, linguistics, and sentence structures. Training will also look at Kriol and Aboriginal-English and learn some of the words, concepts, and meanings.

Prior to the English language entering Australia, the continent possessed over 250 languages. Today, most have become extinct, and the remainder are considered either endangered or critically endangered.

We encourage everyone to learn, rekindle and revive our ancestral language in everyday life. With some knowledge of the Aboriginal language, you will be able to understand geography locations, place names, and sites of significance in Western Australia’s southwest. You will also learn greetings, farewells, and acknowledgement of country.

Kriol and Aboriginal-English awareness provide a basic introduction to understanding Kriol for English speakers who live and work with Kriol speakers, taught in a fun and interactive way.

Our half-day language lessons are specifically designed for the workplace and are suitable for all ages (max. 18 participants per training course).
